FILM CINCINNATI IN THE NEWS

Tune in tonight to watch a special broadcast “TriState Strong: Getting to Zero” at 7 p.m. December 10, 2020.

Bright Light Visual Communications partnered with the Regional COVID Communications Center (RC3) to produce an hour-long program created to generate hope and solidarity among regional residents facing the harshest season of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“TriState Strong: Getting to Zero” will run simultaneously on six local television, radio and print news outlets.

The program will be shared on TV by WCPO 9, WKRC Local12 and CETConnect/ Think-TV. It will stream on The ENQUIRER/cincinnati.com, and 91.7 WVXU Cincinnati Public Radio, wvxu.org. Radio One stations (101.1FM The Wiz, 100.3FM Cincinnati’s R&B station, and The Buzz 1230AM and101.5 FM) are also in partnership with this initiative.

This first-of-its-kind media event convenes leaders in business and healthcare, plus front-line hospital workers, local celebrities and respected voices in education, sports, the arts, and faith-based organizations to share an urgent message with the public.

The unifying message: Everyone can do something to help reach zero positive cases, zero hospitalizations, zero closures, zero deaths.

Local crew member, Tom Cherry, passed away, December 2, to esophageal cancer.

He lived a full life as a camera assistant, pilot, and flight instructor. He had a passion for camera work, whether that be photography or filming, and he was regularly seen working on sets in the Cincinnati area. He was apart of IATSE 600, and he worked on countless commercials, television shows, and movies as a camera assistant.

Tom is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan Reed, and his mother, JoAnn Cherry. There will be a celebration of life for Tom when it is safe to have group gatherings.

#FILMCINCINNATI ON NETFLIX

Hillbilly Elegy is the movie adaptation of the memoir with the same name, written by J.D. Vance.

The movie follows Vance's journey home from Yale law school after his mother (Amy Adams) is in the hospital from a drug overdose. His time at home brings back old memories. He reflects on what lead his family to this point and reminisces on the family matriarch that turned his life around- his Mawmaw (Glenn Close).

Carol, from acclaimed director Todd Haynes, is a haunting story of two women's forbidden love.

Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) spots the beautiful, elegant Carol (Cate Blanchett) perusing the doll displays in a 1950s Manhattan department store. The two women develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences.

The movie released in theaters in 2015 and was up for six Oscars and five Golden Globes.

Point Blank is a movie that was filmed as well as set in Cincinnati.

Follow the story of an ER nurse (Anthony Mackie) who is pitted against rival gangs and corrupt cop, who has to lean on a career criminal (Frank Grillo). Together, they must work together to survive the fight of their lives.

Marauders also filmed in Cincinnati and set there.

The movie follows the FBI investigation of a violent bank heist. The evidence points investigators to Cincinnati's most powerful and political elite. The deeper they dive into the case the more they realize there's a bigger conspiracy at play. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Adrienne Grenier, Christopher Meloni, and Dave Bautista.

Hard Kill was in Cincinnati filming February 2020, and is now available on Netflix.

The story follows a group of ex-military who are hired as security for a wealthy businessman (Bruce Willis) after a piece of artificial intelligence was stolen. As the robber (Sergio Rizzuto) begins to rear his ugly head, the group realizes they need to do more than protect the company and its owner. They have to save the man's daughter (Lala Kent) who is being held hostage. The movie also stars Jesse Metcalfe, Eva Marie, and Texas Battle.
