Sofa Innaugral Fundraiser

06/09/2009
***** TICKETS ON SALE NOW! ******

In partnership with Cincinnati World Cinema, SOFA on July 14 will
present a special screening of the timely and provocative documentary
"Taken for A Ride," by Wright State University professor and
Oscar-nominated documentary maker Jim Klein.

This event marks the very first fundraising event in the nine-year
history of SOFA, the region's networking organization for people
involved in all aspects of media-making. Proceeds will help SOFA
provide more and better educational and professional support for its
members, to support independent filmmaking, and to connect members
with the arts and media community.

The movie takes a fascinating historical look at the role GM played in
the dismantling of streetcar systems in the mid-20th century. With GM
in bankruptcy and Cincinnati voters preparing for a critical vote on
rail systems, the film offers a rare perspective on events that
profoundly shaped the nation's transportation profile.

Jim Klein will be present for a pre-show reception and a
question-and-answer session following the showing.

The evening will also include a pre-show reception and social hour.

Tickets to the screening are $20 in advance ($25 at the door), available now online at www.cincyworldcinema.org <http://www.cincyworldcinema.org> . More outlets will be added soon.

NOTE: (There will be a second screening 7 p.m. July 15 without the filmmaker or
reception. $8 advance, $10 at the door. ETA and Student tickets are $8 for Wednesday July 15 ONLY, with presentation of valid ID, at the door only.)

See the CWC web site for more details, including online ordering
charges and how to order by phone.
