Local Film Going To Cannes
04/30/2008
>Hello Fellow Film Making Community,
Exciting news! Last year our filmmaking team, Mirepoix Pictures, entered and won the “48 Hour Film Project” in Cincinnati, Ohio. In all, our film, “Held in Sway” won four top honors, Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Score.
Well, Mirepoix has just been informed that this film has been invited to show at this year at “Festival de Cannes”, the Cannes Film Festival! Cannes, located in Southern France is regarded as the most prestigious motion picture event held each year to honor cinematic art.
We are excited about this invitation! Cannes is a phenomenal gateway for generating more filmmaking opportunities. We feel that it would be a great mistake not to attend this important event - both to represent our film and our local filmmaking community. As independent filmmakers, this is a dream come true and an once-in-a-lifetime honor!
“Held in Sway” is set to screen at Cannes in less than two months, on May 19 and 20. Due to the sudden nature of this announcement, we find ourselves lacking the funds necessary to send representatives to the screenings. Our goal is to send two members of Mirepoix to Cannes: Russ Faust - our director, and Amy Cunningham – our cinematographer.
To achieve this, we want to plan a party for the end of April, with screenings of our film. There will be food, drink, music, and a raffle with prizes. We are searching for venues to hold the event and businesses who would donate products or services to our raffle. Stay tuned for more details about our event, or contact us at: mirepoixpix@yahoo.com.
Alternatively, supporters can contribute to “Send Mirepoix to Cannes!”, online or through the mail. All mail-in donations are tax-deductible thanks to the Yellow Springs Arts Council, who has graciously volunteered to act as our fiscal agent.
To mail in a donation, please make a check out to: Yellow Springs Arts Council. Please write “For Mirepoix Pictures” in the memo line of the check. Send the check to:
